76 TOTTERS LANE - I'm taking a break...

I started TOTTERS Blog nearly a year ago in September 2009, and I have posted Doctor Who news every single day since.
Unlike some other Blogs, I run TOTTERS by myself, and it's cool that TOTTERS has posted over 2000 posts!
I need to take some time away from the Blog to recharge my batteries, but I ask you to please stick with TOTTERS... and I hope to be back soon.
I am taking a short trip in the TARDIS, the Doctor refuses to tell me where we are going! *exciting* Mr & Mrs Pond say hi! :-)
Vworp Vworp...
Mr E
* Thanks in particular to Jamie Jones and Lady L for their support of TOTTERS Blog.

Passport Application

Don't you wish that you had written this?

Subject: Passport Application

Dear Minister,

I'm in the process of renewing my passport but I am a total loss to understand or believe the hoops I am being asked to jump through.

How is it that Bert Smith of T.V. Rentals Basingstoke has my address and telephone number and knows that I bought a satellite dish from them back in 1994, and yet, the Government is still asking me where I was born and on what date?

How come that nice West African immigrant chappy who comes round every Thursday night with his DVD rentals van can tell me every film or video I have had out since he started his business up eleven years ago, yet you still want me to remind you of my last three jobs, two of which were with contractors working for the government?

How come the T.V. detector van can tell if my T.V. is on, what channel I am watching and whether I have paid my licence or not, and yet if I win the government run lottery they have no idea I have won or where I am and will keep the bloody money to themselves if I fail to claim in good time.

Do you people do this by hand?

You have my birth date on numerous files you hold on me, including the one with all the income tax forms I've filed for the past 30-odd years.
It's on my health insurance card, my driver's licence, on the last four passports I've had, on all those stupid customs declaration forms I've had to fill out before being allowed off the planes and boats over the last 30 years, and all those insufferable census forms that are done every ten years and the electoral registration forms I have to complete, by law, every time our lords and masters are up for re-election.

Would somebody please take note, once and for all, I was born in Maidenhead on the 4th of March 1957, my mother's name is Mary, her maiden name was Reynolds, my father's name is Robert, and I'd be absolutely astounded if that ever changed between now and the day I die!

I apologise Minister. I'm obviously not myself this morning. But between you and me, I have simply had enough! You mail the application to my house, then you ask me for my address. What is going on? Do you have a gang of Neanderthals working there? Look at my damn picture. Do I look like Bin Laden? I don't want to activate the Fifth Reich for God's sake! I just want to go and park my weary backside on a sunny, sandy beach for a couple of week's well-earned rest away from all this crap.

Well, I have to go now, because I have to go to back to Salisbury and get another copy of my birth certificate because you lost the last one. AND to the tune of 60 quid! What a racket THAT is!! Would it be so complicated to have all the services in the same spot to assist in the issuance of a new passport the same day? But nooooo, that'd be too damn easy and maybe make sense. You'd rather have us running all over the place like chickens with our heads cut off, then find some tosser to confirm that it's really me on the goddamn picture - you know... the one where we're not allowed to smile in in case we look as if we are enjoying the process!

Hey, you know why we can't smile? 'Cause we're totally jacked off!

I served in the armed forces for more than 25 years including over ten years at the Ministry of Defence in London. I have had security clearances which allowed me to sit in the Cabinet Office, five seats away from the Prime Minister while he was being briefed on the first Gulf War and I have been doing volunteer work for the British Red Cross ever since I left the Services. However, I have to get someone 'important' to verify who I am -- you know, someone like my doctor... who, before he got his medical degree 6 months ago WAS LIVING IN PAKISTAN...

Yours sincerely,

An Irate British Citizen.

HEYUGUYS - Exclusive Steven Moffat Interview

HEYUGUYS

We were recently given the chance to talk to Moffat, Gatiss and the series’ star, Benedict Cumberbatch. The Gatiss and Cumberbatch interviews go into details about the first episode, so we’re holding off on publishing them until after broadcast, but Moffat’s interview was relatively spoiler free and he was happy to talk Sherlock, Who and the future of British television.

The Guardian - TV review: Sherlock

I had a nagging sense of recognition throughout. There's something about the pace of it, and the comedy; even the youthful hero with the cheek and the cheekbones and the geeky chic - charming, attractive, but asexual . . . what is it reminding me of? And then it came to me! It's no surprise I suppose, given who's behind it, but I think Steven Moffat has created Sherlock Whoms.

SFX magazine - Torchwood cover

This month's SFX magazine has a Torchwood cover and inside, there's a four-page feature talking to Russell T Davies about his plans for the fourth series. He also comments on the recent rumours about Johnny Depp starring in a Doctor Who movie.

I’ve always had this story in mind, and when you discover what it is, you’ll go, ‘Oh, right...’ You’ll see how that can spread out [for ten episodes]. Actually, Children Of Earth could have run for ten episodes. Once you get martial law declared, we could have done three more episodes of that - if anything, we slightly rushed that ending. So this story is on that big a scale. It’s not a Lost-type story, full of mystery, and it’s not particularly complicated - it’s more linear. Ten parts just gives us a chance to move it onto the international stage where it takes place. The vast majority’s going to take place in America - and other countries as well - so it's got a size to it. It’s a proper, big, global ten-hour thriller.

The Guardian - Billie Piper and the fag nags

The actor Billie Piper has been caught smoking near her child. Is it right that the press has tried to shame her?

Is the reaction to Billie Piper's actions too judgmental?

This comment made me laugh...

The new TV Sherlock, Benedict Cumberbatch, argues that Holmes's deductive powers are achievable.

5 Sci-Fi Actors Who Were War Heroes in Real Life

Patrick Troughton (1920-1987) played the Second Doctor (1966-1969) on Doctor Who (1963- ). He was on Long Island, New York when World War II broke out. His father arranged for him to return to Britain on a Belgian (then a neutral) ship. The ship hit a mine and sank, but Troughton escaped in a lifeboat until a Greek ship picked up survivors. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1940, was trained at Loch Ewin, and commissioned as an officer. Troughton participated in daring raids against German shipping off the Dutch coast. He later received his own command and guarded convoys and rescued downed airmen in the North Sea.

My breasts are my favourite, says Billie Piper

Actress Billie Piper has revealed that her boobs are her favourite part of her body.
The star, 27, also admitted that she once thought of getting a boob job, but eventually dropped the idea.

"They're my favourite part of my body. I did consider getting bigger ones, but I'm so glad I didn't. I was amazed they got so big in pregnancy. They're smaller now, but still sexy," News Of The World quoted her as saying.

Piper, who uses various products to enhance her beauty of face, body, mouth, hair and back, has also said that she is now comfortable with her looks.

"I didn't think I was pretty when I was growing up - I used to hate my mouth. I thought it was too wide and my jaw too heavy. Now I'm comfortable with my looks," she said.
